Rebates and incentives

LED rebates in the Finger Lakes

Most of the Finger Lakes gets its electricity from NYSEG. RG&E serves Canandaigua and parts of Ontario, Wayne and Livingston counties, and Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, Bath and Groton run their own village electric systems. Your electric bill names your utility.

NYSEG and RG&E ended their LED fixture rebates with the 2025 program year, after a New York State Public Service Commission directive required utilities across the state to phase out lighting incentives by December 31, 2025.

Their 2026 to 2030 plan for small businesses lists refrigeration, heating and cooling, building shell, motors and drives, agricultural equipment, compressed air, water heating, processing equipment and lighting controls. If a winery, brewery or farm is planning cooler, pump or barn work, ask NYSEG or RG&E about those programs, because lighting controls can be part of the same project.

NYSERDA's FlexTech program shares the cost of an energy study for buildings that pay the System Benefits Charge on their electric bill, and small businesses and nonprofits may also qualify for a subsidized study through NYSERDA's Green Jobs Green New York program.

A Finger Lakes example: wall packs at an inn or tasting room

A 175 W metal halide wall pack draws about 210 W once the ballast is counted. Our full cutoff wall pack runs from 60 to 120 W; set to 60 W, it saves about 150 W per fixture and sends no light above the horizontal.

From sunset to sunrise, about 4,300 hours a year here, that is about 645 kWh per fixture, close to $100 a year at an example rate of 15 cents per kWh, or about $970 a year for 10 wall packs. Run your own numbers with your hours and the rate on your bill.

Program details checked October 2026. Programs change, so we confirm what applies to your account before you buy.

Building types

Lighting for Finger Lakes buildings

What we usually supply for wineries, farms, hospitality and town buildings around the lakes.

Wineries, breweries and cideries

IP65 vapor tight fixtures for cellars, crush pads and wash-down areas, and UFO high bays for production halls and case storage.

Farms and equipment barns

Vapor tight fixtures for damp, dusty barns, and deformable LED lamps that screw into existing E26 or E39 sockets once the old ballast is bypassed.

Inns, tasting rooms and lakefront properties

Full cutoff wall packs with zero uplight that can be set to 3000 K, so light stays on the ground and out of the night sky.

Gas stations and convenience stores

Recessed LED canopy lights from 100 to 150 W, up to 19,500 lumens, sealed to IP65 and rated to -40°F. Our gas station canopy guide covers the swap.

Schools and town buildings

Troffers and flat panels for classrooms and offices, and strip lights and garage canopy lights for highway department garages.

Shops and storage

Linkable strip lights in 4 and 8 ft lengths for workshops, storage rooms and retail back rooms.

Finger Lakes LED lighting questions

Are there LED rebates for Finger Lakes businesses in 2026?
Not on LED fixtures. NYSEG and RG&E ended those rebates with the 2025 program year under a New York State Public Service Commission directive. Their 2026 small business plan still lists lighting controls, refrigeration and agricultural equipment, and NYSERDA can share the cost of an energy study. We check what applies to your account before you buy.
Which utility serves my winery or farm?
Your electric bill names it. Most of the region is on NYSEG. RG&E serves Canandaigua and parts of Ontario, Wayne and Livingston counties, and Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, Bath and Groton run village systems.
What lighting works in a wash-down area?
An IP65 vapor tight fixture. Ours comes in 4 and 8 ft lengths from 25 to 80 W, with a polycarbonate body for wet, dusty and corrosive locations, and is rated from -4°F to 113°F.
How do I keep outdoor lighting dark sky friendly?
Use full cutoff fixtures that send no light above the horizontal, at the lowest wattage that does the job. Our full cutoff wall pack has a BUG rating of B3-U0-G2, where U0 means zero uplight, and it can be set to 3000 K for a warmer look. Our full cutoff wall pack guide covers the details.
Do you deliver to the Finger Lakes?
Yes. Orders ship from US inventory to your site, and large orders go by freight. Our office in Honeoye Falls is a short drive from Honeoye, Canandaigua and Conesus lakes.
